my so-called Valentine date

February 14, 2014

Who would have thought that I will be out with a friend like on the day where couples would give out gifts to each other and celebrate their love, where chocolates are given away and all streets are flooded with expensive flowers. If I remembered it correctly, the first ever valentines card I received was when I was in grade school

(I still have those cards and letters until now) and another was when I was in 1st year high school (computerized na ito, medyo hi-tech na) but when I was in college until the time I was already working, no one ever gave me a chocolate or flower or asked me out on Valentines day. I don't even have a special someone whom I could share hearts day with.
I would stay home while everyone are out on dinner dates and happily celebrating hearts day pati si Inday and si Dodong day-off din (marami sila) kaya traffic. Better to stay home na lang and wait for Feb 16 to come which is my birthday. Since then Valentines became an ordinary day for me.

But this time, it was different. Two weeks before the dreaded hearts day came, I asked him a question, "Paano kung di ka kasama sa Intramuros, saan ka punta?" at tinanong din ako ng "Ikaw ano ang balak mo?" then exchanges were made until we agreed that we will go out on hearts day.

Finally, Hearts day came. As usual, malls are flooded with people and restaurants are fully booked. Almost every lady I saw was holding a flower and dressed in her best attire. Lads were also at their best those times.
My friend and I were giggling kasi nakikigulo kami sa araw ng mga puso...haha! Nakadagdag kami sa traffic..waaa! Actually we ran out of idea where to eat that is why our last option was to go to the mall. We had dinner kung saan naumay kami sa food (and we promise na hindi na kami kakain dun ulit) then Starbucks for our favorite drink. We had a lot of shared stories and reminiscing of old times, we even bumped into our classmates in high school and talked more until we had to go since may mga curfew kami..wahaha!

My so-called Valentine date was fun. Simple yet memorable. By the way, what added to my joy is receiving a "Toblerone" chocolate with a post Christmas gift. Oh how I love chocolates...thank you dear friend for making my valentine worth remembering.

I was wondering if I will be out again on Valentines next year for a date?
What do you think? hmm...exciting!
