my benadryl shot experience

Monday, November 10, 2014

Just want to share what happen today. When I came back from lunch, I felt something different in me. Ung tipong lahat ng init ko sa katawan umakyat lahat sa ulo ko, I felt my temperature was very high. I though to myself, maybe I walked under the sun kaya mainit talaga. So I went on to my readings. After  a while, I decided to take a short nap but couldn't sleep because of what I was feeling plus I have headache na. When it was time to work, I told my colleague about what I was feeling and to her surprise I already turned red, as in shining shimmering red. I looked at the mirror and saw my face was red including my neck and both arms. I called the company nurse and rehearse to her what I felt and she told me to come drop by the clinic to be assess. The nurse let me rest while waiting for the doctor to arrived. Temperature - 36 degrees celsius, Blood pressure - 100/70, normal lahat! She even gave me a "celestamine" tablet for my redness to subside. Nung dumating si Doc, he checked on me and I was surprise because when he came back he was holding a syringe. Sabi ko, ayaw ko ng injection...waaaa...but he had to do the shot. It was a benadryl shot, I thought to myself "diba pang ubo ung benadryl?" I had no choice but to take it. I was nervous. the last time I had a shot was in grade school, anti-measles un kung hindi ako nagkakamali. I hold tight to the nurse's hand while the doctor is doing the procedure. sabi nga nila "kagat lang ng langgam" hahaha...after the shot, I was getting cold. actually, i was chilling na until I fell asleep. I was in the clinic at 1:30pm and went back to my post at work by 4:20pm. I was really sleepy because of the medicine.

Oh by the way, I think I got the allergy sa baon ko na daing na bangus. Kaya pala feeling ko may kakaiba sa fish na un but I didn't mind. So we really need to be careful on what we eat.

I'm okay now. back to normal na ulit ang color ng skin ko. Though my left shoulder is still in paid because of the benadryl shot. Plus I was put on a 4-day medication of celestamine at hindi muna pwede eat ng bangus. Waaa... makes me think of Dagupan! Haha :)

my so-called Valentine date

February 14, 2014

Who would have thought that I will be out with a friend like on the day where couples would give out gifts to each other and celebrate their love, where chocolates are given away and all streets are flooded with expensive flowers. If I remembered it correctly, the first ever valentines card I received was when I was in grade school

(I still have those cards and letters until now) and another was when I was in 1st year high school (computerized na ito, medyo hi-tech na) but when I was in college until the time I was already working, no one ever gave me a chocolate or flower or asked me out on Valentines day. I don't even have a special someone whom I could share hearts day with.
I would stay home while everyone are out on dinner dates and happily celebrating hearts day pati si Inday and si Dodong day-off din (marami sila) kaya traffic. Better to stay home na lang and wait for Feb 16 to come which is my birthday. Since then Valentines became an ordinary day for me.

But this time, it was different. Two weeks before the dreaded hearts day came, I asked him a question, "Paano kung di ka kasama sa Intramuros, saan ka punta?" at tinanong din ako ng "Ikaw ano ang balak mo?" then exchanges were made until we agreed that we will go out on hearts day.

Finally, Hearts day came. As usual, malls are flooded with people and restaurants are fully booked. Almost every lady I saw was holding a flower and dressed in her best attire. Lads were also at their best those times.
My friend and I were giggling kasi nakikigulo kami sa araw ng mga puso...haha! Nakadagdag kami sa traffic..waaa! Actually we ran out of idea where to eat that is why our last option was to go to the mall. We had dinner kung saan naumay kami sa food (and we promise na hindi na kami kakain dun ulit) then Starbucks for our favorite drink. We had a lot of shared stories and reminiscing of old times, we even bumped into our classmates in high school and talked more until we had to go since may mga curfew kami..wahaha!

My so-called Valentine date was fun. Simple yet memorable. By the way, what added to my joy is receiving a "Toblerone" chocolate with a post Christmas gift. Oh how I love chocolates...thank you dear friend for making my valentine worth remembering.

I was wondering if I will be out again on Valentines next year for a date?
What do you think? hmm...exciting!

my first ever Luneta adventure

June 21, 2014

Eto ang entrance ng Rizal Park, buti wala masyado dumadaan kaya pagkakataon ito to take a picture.

Binhi ng Kalayaan statue

Sentinel of Freedom statue, akala ko si Lapu-lapu, mali pala..hahaha

The Orchidarium, super napagod ako dito kasi entrance puro photo session na..hahaha, had the chance to feed Koi fishes and enjoy nature, the swing, the hanging bridge at lahat ng sulok dito.

dito ung dancing fountains, wasn't able to take pictures when the lights were on, super pagod na talaga..waaaa

I was really wondering why walang tao dito sa part na ito ng Luneta yun pala bawal, keep off the grass ba..ahahaha

Really had fun today :)
Sa mga hindi pa nakakapunta sa historical place na ito, it is never too late to go there...kaya punta na :)

Work and Personal Responsibility

Last May 18, 2014 I was asked to speak about Work and Personality at church. I could not remember the last time when I was assigned to be the speaker at a sacrament meeting. This was a great opportunity to share some insights about a certain topic to the members of our ward. This is what I shared:

The Blessing of Work and Personal Responsibility

Good morning my dear brothers and sisters.  I am indeed grateful for the opportunity to be one of the speakers today.  My assigned topic is about Work and Personal Responsibility.  Before I go further, there is a little story about four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody and Nobody. There was an important job to be done and Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it. Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it. Somebody got angry about that because it was Everybody's job. Everybody thought that Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn't do it. It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done! This story teaches that each of us has a work to do and it is our responsibility to do it.

Sometimes we ask ourselves, why do I need to work?  Do we work because we need to earn for a living? Is it for self-fulfillment? Or do we do it because everybody is doing it?  We are taught that WORK is an eternal principle. Our Heavenly Father and His Son, Jesus Christ have shown great example to us that work is important in heaven and on earth. The Savior worked to create the heavens and the earth. Heavenly Father has chosen to labor for the benefit of our eternal souls – your soul and my soul.

Each one of us has a work to accomplish. We have the responsibility to take care of our own needs and to provide for our families. We all have callings to magnify at church, give service and are called also to share the gospel to the world. It may seem overwhelming that we need to this and to do that but I know that WORK is a blessing. Elder D. Todd Christofferson shared “By work we sustain and enrich life. It enables us to survive the disappointments and tragedies of the mortal experience. Hard-earned achievement brings a sense of self-worth. Work builds and refines character, creates beauty, and is the instrument of our service to one another and to God. A consecrated life is filled with work, sometimes repetitive, sometimes menial, sometimes unappreciated but always work that improves, orders, sustains, lifts, ministers, aspires.”

Last January 16 marks the 8th year of my service as an employee at CMB. My job is not always happiness all the time. There came a point in my career that I wanted to quit because of certain circumstances but I am grateful because the Lord has given me enough patience and willingness to continue what I've been doing for those 8 long years. I have learned to love what I’m doing and became successful at doing it. My job has blessed my family and has taught me to improve myself in my chosen field. There’s one thing I've realized, napaka-tiyaga ko pala!

When we work, we also serve others. I remember a portion of what Pres. Gordon B. Hinckley shared in his book, “Standing for Something”, he said, “The best antidote I know for worry is work. The best cure of weariness is the challenge of helping someone who is even more tired. One of the great ironies of life is: He or she who serves almost always benefits more than he or she who is served.” When we work to serve others, we are happier and more eager to do what the Lord wants us to do.

When we work, we should take responsibility in some areas during life. Elder Hugh W. Pinnock shared the following that will lead to a happy and joyful life.

a. Living the commandments – Are we willing to live the commandments and follow suggestions from a loving Heavenly Father?

b. How do we spend our time? – What are your priorities? Do we go to bed a little bit better than we were when we woke up?

c. Social responsibility - We must take responsibility for our dating skills, for our social skills. We can’t rely upon others to always inviting us to go somewhere. We must be the type of people who are giving and sharing their lives with others in proper ways.

d. Financial responsibility – We must decide not to be wasteful of money but to develop habits of frugality.
e. Responsibility for your appearance – We must take personal responsibility for our appearance, for the scenery that we provide for others. This also means taking responsibility for our health and keeping ourselves physically fit.

f.  Responsibility for our environment – Do we pick up a few pieces of papers and deposit it in a trash bin because it was unsightly and someone else had not been thoughtful?

Work and personal responsibility goes hand in hand. We cannot work without being responsible with what we are doing. When we do this, we are free to work on our own, we gain trust from other people and we have the opportunity to make the right choices in our daily lives.

In conclusion, may I share what Pres. David O. Mckay has said, “Let us realize that the privilege to work is a gift, that power to work is a blessing, that love of work is success.” We can enjoy life to the fullest by learning to love our work whatever it is. Let us find purpose in it. I know that there will be discouragements along the way but may we remember Elder Orson F. Whitney’s counsel, “No pain that we suffer, no trial that we experience is wasted. It ministers to our education, to the development of such qualities as patience, faith, fortitude and humility. All that we suffer and all that we endure, especially when we endure it patiently, builds up our characters, purifies our hearts, expands our souls, and makes us more tender and charitable, more worthy to be called the children of God…and it is through sorrow and suffering, toil and tribulation, that we gain the education that we come here to acquire and which will make us more like our Father and Mother in heaven.”

Let us all be responsible in doing our work. I know that if we do our part, the Lord will bless us tremendously. Let us do it, do it right and do it right now. I share this in Jesus Christ’s name. Amen.

After the sacrament service, some of the members told me that my message was a good one. The Primary President of our ward even asked me a copy of my message. I shared my message to a friend and he said "super nice", "galing", how overwhelming! I hope and pray that I became an instrument of Heavenly Father to inspire others that Sabbath morning. It's really a privilege to be one. Indeed grateful to be one as well.

a missionary experience...hastening the Lord's work

April 3, 2014

Today is temple time! Somewhat hesitant to come to the temple due to some circumstances. I was in a sneeze mode since yesterday and colds are getting in the way. But still I decided to go. And I'm grateful because I did =)

Took a cab going to White Plains...sabi ng cab driver "Saan kayo mam?" I replied, "sa White Plains po" and off we go. While inside the cab, I had this short conversation with the cab driver:

Driver: Nagtuturo din po ba kayo sa White Plains?
Me: Hindi po (mukha talaga akong teacher dahil sa uniform ko..ahaha)
Me: Sa may temple po ako.
Me: Ah talaga po
Driver: Sa Mormons kayo mam?
Me: Yes
Me: (shock at his question, first time ko itong na-experience, but still manage to answer and remembered "The Articles of Faith") Naniniwala kami kay Heavenly Father, Kay Jesus Christ at sa Holy Ghost.
Me: Yes!

Then he rehearsed to me na marami siyang in-observed na religion at marami din syang binabasa. I asked him if nagbrowse ba sya sa internet because he can access the church site. Then he asked another question... napaisip ako dito kasi mahirap...waaaa

I shared with him that we (LDS) have another book called "The Book of Mormon"
it is another testament na nagpapatotoo kay Jesus Christ.

Driver: Gusto ko yan Mam.

Kinuwento ko sa kanya ung story ni Joseph Smith, the first vision and how we got the "the Book of Mormon" medyo shortened version dahil malapit na kami sa temple. Wala akong piece of paper to write his name and number pero buti na lang may tissue paper ako (thanks to my colds...haha) Nasabi rin nya na maganda ang naging discussion namin. I even told him na i-refer ko sya sa mga missionaries and he said "okay lang". When it's time for me to come off the cab, I gave him my name and number pati narin ung church sites so he could know more about the church. Hopefully ay makapag-access siya sa church sites.

I am indeed happy because I decided to come to the temple today. Blessing talaga!
Thank you Heavenly Father for this one of a kind missionary experience.

Creepy Tour in the City of Pines

November 5 - 7, 2011

This is my first ever halloween tour in Baguio. The LDS church does not encourage this kind of activity because it may be an open invitation to the adversary.

*Loakan Road - meron po dito na isang big tree tapos ung canopy nito umaabot across the street, people who tried to cut down the tree suffer from sudden illness and death. sabi may white lady daw na nagpapakita sa road na ito...

*Little Kibungan - nagkaron ng landslide dito two years ago...

It was really a creepy night... pass 12midnight na po kami nakabalik sa pension house... sobrang pagod po talaga kami... I decided to freshen up para makatulog na, nasa washroom ako at paglabas ko ng washroom ay wala na silang lahat dun (Dennis, Jason and Diane) so inaayos ko muna lahat ng gamit ko for the next day...after nun ay pinuntahan ko sila sa may terrace...nung nakita ko sila I felt something na meron silang hindi sinasabi sakin... tama ako...nagkwento na si Dennis...habang nasa washroom ako at nagtetext sya ay bigla sya napatingin sa bag ko at nakita nya na gumagalaw ung handle ng bag ko na parang pendulum... kaya pala paglabas ko wala nang tao... waaa... kaya nagkaron ng "martial law" walang magpapatay ng ilaw at iiwanang bukas ang tv" hay... hindi na naman ako nakatulog... unang night namin sa house ay hindi rin ako nakatulog tapos sa 2nd night hindi pa rin...waaa... mga bandang 330am ay may nagbukas ng door, waaaa, nagising kami only to find out na si Jason lang pala..hahaha...paranoid mode on!

naalala ko ikwento ko pala in detail ung nangyari sa Hyatt Hotel..ganito po un..pagbaba namin sa van..super duper lakas ng hangin, parang nilagay sa high cool ung aircon ng buong baguio city…haha..tumayo lang kami sa harap ng gate tapos ung ibang kasama namin ay pumasok sa may maliit na gate dun..sabi ng kasama namin na si Jason..may welcoming committee daw sa loob ng gate not far from where we are standing.. 5 people daw… as usual wala naman kami nakikita ni Dennis dahil wala naman po kaming 3rd eye na tinatawag tapos si Geoff (one of the spirit questor) hinanap nya ung caretaker para makapagpaalam na papasok kami…wala ung caretaker kaya hinanap ni Geoff sa kabilang dako (actually wala po ako idea kung san sya nagpunta..haha) pagbalik nya ay wala pa rin ung caretaker pero ganito ung itsura namin sa may gate ng Hyatt..

Legend:

I am glad that we were all safe after this tour. We were still protected by our Heavenly Father. If ask to do this activity again? No way! waaaa...
